Our VCE Maths Methods 1/2 course has been carefully designed (under the guidance of our Head Maths Tutor, James Lee) to be the perfect stepping stone into VCE Maths Methods 3/4.
Many students walk into their final year of Methods having forgotten what was covered in 1/2, immediately falling behind their peers and coursework. Our goal is to make sure the concepts are deeply engrained from the beginning, and come natural to students when transitioning into Maths Methods 3/4, so they have the best chance at achieving the highest raw scores.
The Program includes engaging weekly lessons delivered by experienced tutors, regular homework to practice your fundamental skills, as well as topic tests, practice SACs, and exams. We also conduct regular assessments to make sure all VCE Maths Methods 1/2 students are at the top of their game when tackling exams and assessments (especially those pesky worded problems!). The VCE Specialist Maths 1/2 course at Contour Education is curated to help you master the mathematical building blocks you will need for Specialist Maths 3/4. We know Specialist Maths has a reputation for being a challenging subject – so our goal has been to make it digestible in two steps.
First, under the guidance of our Head Maths tutor, James Lee, our program breaks down concepts like vectors, complex numbers, advanced trigonometry, matrices, and statistics into straightforward, simple-to-recall ideas. Our Program will help students develop a strong intuition in maths concepts – including Number & Algebra, Measurement & Geometry, and Statistics & Probability. The Year 7 Mathematics Tutoring Program at Contour Education is designed to build strong mathematical fundamentals for students aiming to achieve high in Mathematics at school, and/or planning to continue mathematics studies in the future.
Our Program will help students develop a strong intuition in maths concepts – including Number & Algebra, Measurement & Geometry, and Statistics & Probability – rather than relying on their rote memory, or blindly plugging numbers into formulae.
Simultaneously, with regular practice assessments, our Program will train students to be able to tackle worded problems, extended response and non-routine questions with confidence.
Instead of teaching Maths through dry or monotonous lectures, our experienced Mathematics tutors – under the leadership of our Head of Pre-VCE Mathematics, Dinuja Senevirathne – will expose students to the beauty of Mathematics through in-depth investigations, conceptual explorations, practical experiments, and challenging, real-world problems.
